• July 11: Independence Day lunch following the worship service.

Martha’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 506 McCracken Street, will hold a Back to School Bash and Fun Day Saturday, July 17 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Fun, games, food, school supplies for everyone. The community is invited.

• July 17: Michele Ministries presents “Without Boundaries Revival” 2nd County McCormick at 10 a.m. The revivalist will be the Rev. Michele Cummings.

• July 17 and 18: Fifteenth annual Women’s Conference and Women’s Day program at 11 a.m. Theme: “Coming out of Egypt, Leaving the Past Behind.” Lady Monica Meyers is the speaker on Saturday, and Minister Monique Williams is the speaker on Sunday. Free lunch on Saturday. CDC guidelines will be followed, social distancing will be practiced and masks are required. The Rev. Melvin L. Gordon is pastor. Men are welcome too.

Mims Class of 1968

The Mims High School Class of 1968 will meet each month on the fourth Sunday at 4 p.m. at the MACK.

The SC Farmers Market Vouchers will be distributed at the Talmadge Fitness and Wellness Complex July 26-30. Please see the distribution schedule listed below:

Wednesday, July 28, 2 – 4 p.m., last names Q-Z
If you did not apply for vouchers in May 2021, you will not receive vouchers this year.
Dear kids and families …
Your local McCormick Youth Partners presents the Picturing Women Inventors Family Exhibition Night. Please join them on Friday, July 30 at the Red Rooster Emporium (2nd Floor Art Gallery – 118 S. Main St. McCormick) to view this exhibition. Please plan to continue to use safe practices while attending this event. Especially if you are not vaccinated, please continue to wear a mask, and social distancing is still recommended. The Family Exhibition Night will be open from 6 – 8 p.m.
If you had to name an inventor, would it be a woman? Like their male counterparts, women inventors represent all segments of American society, but their stories are often overlooked or undervalued. Picturing Women Inventors highlights the distinctive motivations, challenges, and accomplishments of exceptional 20th- and 21st-century inventive women who are diverse both personally and professionally. Presented in bold wall murals, with text in English and Spanish, the exhibition illustrates the creativity of women inventors while inspiring young people (especially girls) to see themselves as future inventors.
Picturing Women Inventors is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, in collaboration with the Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation and the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and is sponsored by Lyda Hill Philanthropies IF/THEN Initiative and Ericsson. Your local youth partners include The McCormick County Library, Clemson Extension 4H, The McCormick Arts Council (MACK), and The McCormick County Historical Commission.
