The Red Rooster Emporium and Art Gallery in McCormick, SC will be hosting Laura Fleming Interior’s chalk paint classes on February 18 at 10 a.m. or February 20 at 6 p.m. The class is two hours long, all levels of experience are welcome, and everything you need for the class is provided. Class fee is $39. The class will cover basics of using chalk paint and teach 3 different finishes. You do not need to bring anything to paint. Sample boards will be provided. The McCormick County Library Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. at the library to discuss The Water is Wide by Pat Conroy. Beloved South Carolina author Conroy recounts a year of his life teaching children who are living on an island off the coast of South Carolina, and the new life he acquires because of the experience. On Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m., the McCormick Library will host local author Dr. Fay Stapleton Burnett. Dr. Burnett has written two books about Georgia women who were accused of murders in the 1800s. She discovered the true stories quite by accident while researching her own family’s genealogy. The free presentation will be followed by light refreshments.
Pine Grove AME Church Outreach Ministry will offer free soup and corn bread on Friday, Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church on 317 Pine Grove Church Road, Plum Branch. First come, first serve.
