    This will be the 5th year that churches from the McCormick area have joined together to celebrate World Day Of Prayer USA. Many women from many local churches are working together to make this a truly meaningful event which will be held the first Friday in March.

    Encore Productions and ElbertonNET present Cole Porter’s classic music and a doozy of a love story in the timeless musical “Anything Goes” at the Elbert Theatre. This production will take place at the theatre March 8-10 and 15-17. Performances on Fridays and Saturdays are at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Advance tickets are $11 for adults and $9 for students and groups. Tickets will be $16 at the door.     Thursday, March 21: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Regular open sew session in the Bordeaux room at Hickory Knob State Resort Park. Bring your project and supplies. The theme for our Fat Quarter Raffle is GREEN. Bring a fat quarter for the basket, fill out the ticket and the lucky winner will take home the stash. Join us for lunch in the restaurant.

    Thursday, March 28: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Regular open sew session in the Barn at Hickory Knob State Resort Park. Bring your project and supplies to enjoy a day of sewing and sharing. Join us for lunch in the restaurant.

    Saint Patrick’s Day at the Cabin: Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $2 plus $5 parking. Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with the opening of Elijah Clark’s Cabin. You can make your own green butter to eat with shamrock crackers. The day will finish with shamrock crafts.

    Leprechaun Hike: Saturday, March 16, 10-11 a.m. Take a one-mile hike on the Hannah Clark Trail and help the naturalist make rainbow pots to put the craft leprechaun’s hidden gold into. Weather permitting, there will be a hike. Crafts will be made regardless of the weather. $2 plus $5 parking.

    Saint Patrick’s Sunset Paddle, ranger led: Saturday, March 16, 7-8:30 p.m. Cost: $15. Includes kayak rental, PFD and paddle meet at the fishing pier to enjoy a lakeshore paddle. Ranger-led paddle. There will be stops at a few locations on the shoreline to see rock formations that give clues the the park’s fascinating past. Spaces are limited, so call 706-359-3458 to reserve your spot.

    Friday, March 29: Bingo, a fire and hot cocoa, 7-7:45 p.m. Anyone camping, picnicking or visiting a friend staying at the park is welcome to join in for bingo at a shelter. A warm fire, hot cocoa and bingo will turn this winter evening into family fun. Stay and enjoy stargazing and star stories. Cost is $2 – $5 plus $5 parking.

    Saturday, March 30: Archery for beginners, 2-4 p.m. Haven’t shot an arrow yet? Would you like to learn and sharpen your archery skills? Either way, you’ll be guided and taught by an experienced ranger. Preregistration is encouraged. Cost is $7, plus $5 parking.

    Saturday, March 30: Cabin Crafts, a New Craft each Saturday, noon – 3 p.m. You are invited to join in for an afternoon of fun at Elijah Clark’s homestead. Cost is $2 – $15. Homestead tours are $1 (inquire at office), plus $5 parking.

    Sunday, March 31: Meet the Snakes and Turtles, 10:30 a.m. – noon. Meet at the park office to be able to touch and learn about the habits and habitats of the resident corn and hognose snakes. You will also be introduced to native turtles, the red eared slider and the map turtle. Turtle and snake feeding will follow.
